EU-Turkey relations: “We are entering a new phase”

More than 10 years after EU-Turkey accession talks started, MEPs adopted a resolution on 24 November calling for the negotiations to be suspended until the Turkish government ended its disproportionate and repressive response to July's failed coup. Ankara replied by threatening to let thousands of migrants pass through to Europe. Greek EPP member Manolis Kefalogiannis, head of Parliament’s delegation to Turkey, commented: “We are entering a new phase in EU-Turkey relations”.

European parliament suggests the possibility of giving every European citiziens free InterRail ticket as a 18th birthday gift. With this ticket, he/she can travel throught the Europe for a whole month. This proposal came from the chairman of EPP Manfred Webe.

Russian economy minister is detained over bribery allegations

Russia’s Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev has been detained over the equivalent of an alleged 1.8 million euro bribe ($2m). Ulyukayev who is a relatively liberal pro-western politician is being held pending charges.
Balloons released in memory of Paris terror attack victims

A year on to the day, France has been remembering the country’s murderous terror attacks in Paris. President Hollande and the city’s mayor Anne Hidalgo released 130 balloons – one for each person who died in the atrocities. As well as the uplifting commemorations, ceremonies were held at each of the venues where the attacks took place.
Hungary vows to continue to fight against migrant quotas

Hungary has ruled out resubmitting a law to ban the resettlement of migrants after parliament narrowly rejected the plan this week. Speaking on state radio on Friday, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said his government will now fight the European Union’s migrant quotas in Brussels.

The visit of the Tibetan spiritual leader in the Czech Republic last month provoked a stormy reactions. Especially because of the meeting with Minister of Culture, which was condemned by four supreme constitutional officials by declaring that there is no change in official policies and the Czech Republic will thus not endangering a partnership with China.
