Some of the MEPs are criticizing new Europol´s powers that have been approved today. The authority will monitor the internet or collect and share more information about people suspected of terrorism. The aim is especially the fight against the jihadists in Europe. But the proposal is criticized because of privacy matters.
”Personally, I find Europol to be one of the most important agencies for ensuring safety in Europe. Unfortunately, as we have witnessed in the past, the communication between the agency and member states is very unsystematic and less effective. It’s unbelievable that in today´s Europe, sharing information about dangerous or potentially dangerous people isn’t working. How else can we fight against criminality, organized crime, or terrorism and secure our safety? “
