KDU-ČSL have chosen the current member of the European parliament Pavel Svoboda as the electoral list leader for the European Parliament elections. Another candidate is the member of the European Parliament Tomáš Zdechovský who is at the second position. The third position is going to be held by the member of the European Parliament Michaela Šojdrová. KDU-ČSL voted these positions at the whole nation party conference that took place on Saturday 19th May. The European Parliament elections are going to take place in May 2019.
“KDU-ČSL haven‘t decided yet whether we are going to run for the elections independently or whether we’re going to negotiate with other parties,“ said KDU-ČSL leader Pavel Bělobrádek. Pavel Svoboda suggests that there are very interesting people on the electoral list and they have loads to offer. “Security and migration crisis solving are going to be big topics. It’s also important for the Czech Republic to stay in the EU. It’s the foreign policy pillar for which there is no alternative. We want the Czech Republic to be active in the EU negotiations,” said Svoboda.
