Press Release

On Tuesday 13 November, during a common meeting, KDU-ČSL with representatives of the opposition parties (ODS, the Czech Pirate Party, SPD, TOP 09 and STAN) agreed on the common steps in the case of Andrej Babiš. Members of the Parliament called on him to resign as the Prime Minister, and they also proposed to vote no-confidence to the entire government.

“It's a massive conflict of interest. None of us say that Mr. Babiš or his son is guilty. We do not decide who is guilty, we want to ensure the rules of the game are followed, the legal order and the legal system are adhered to. We want to ensure that the investigation is conducted impartially,” said Pavel Bělobrádek, Chairman of the KDU-ČSL. The Members of the Parliament’s initiative were later supported by the presidents of the Senate clubs of KDU-ČSL and independents, ODS, the Mayors and Independents, and the Club for Liberal Democracy - Senator 21.

Representatives of the opposition parties: ODS, the Czech Pirate Party, SPD, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and STAN at the common meeting agreed on the following stance towards the Babiš case:

1. We call on Andrej Babiš to leave the post of the Prime Minister, at least until the investigation of the Čapí hnízdo case is completed.

2. We file a motion to express the no-confidence vote to the government of ANO, ČSSD and KSČM.

3. We call on all governmental Members of the Parliament not to support the man accused of the subsidy fraud and the suspect of investigation obstructing who is in the post of the Prime Minister.

4. We consider the Prime Minister Andrej Babiš’ suspicion of the possible police investigation obstruction of the Čapí hnízdo case as unacceptable.
