The Czech Republic is under threat to return two billion Czech crowns from subsidies for the agro-food holding. According to the Prime Minister and ANO leader, it is a pseudo-problem and a campaign against him. To break all links, including those of family members, to Agrofert, stop taking European Union subsidies for the holding, or resign as Prime Minister. According to the Members of the European Parliament Tomáš Zdechovský (KDU-ČSL) and Luděk Niedermayer (TOP 09), these are the only options that Andrej Babiš, the ANO leader, has. Their opinion is based on the material of the Legal Service of the European Commission, which was pointed out at by Le Monde and The Guardian.

Honoured delegates, ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the Czech Christian Democrats, I would like to address this very important congress. Influence in the European Parliament means influence in the European Commission, and this has a direct impact on our nation states. If we are to succeed in the upcoming European Parliament elections, our house must be built on rock and our kingdom must not be divided. It is not enough to elect a Spitzenkandidat.

Manfred Weber from the Bavarian CSU rightfully became the new leader, the so-called “Spitzenkandidat” of the European People’s Party. He won not because he is German, but because he was simply better. And he was better in many ways.

Member of the European parliament Michaela Šojdrová met Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and the Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamáček on Friday 21/9 to present them her plan on granting international protection (supplementary protection) in the Czech Republic to unaccompanied minors from Syria who are in Greek refugee camps.  Ms. Šojdrová supports the initiative Češi pomáhají, which has been calling for a more welcoming approach of the Czech government to the victims of the war in Syria for more than a year. At the meeting there was Jaroslav Mika speaking for the initiative. This initiative was also supported at the meeting by senators Václav Hampl, Chairman of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union, and Zdeněk Papoušek, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights and Petitions. Martin Rozumek took part on behalf the Organization for Aid for Refugees, and Samira Sibai, a Czech-Syrian physician on behalf of the Syrian community.
