The life and career of Michaela Šojdrová are interwoven with several essential topics over a long period: education, culture and family. On a personal level, she has never given up her family life: her husband, sons and contacts with relatives are important parts of her life. On a professional level, she started teaching French at the Archiepiscopal Grammar School soon after the revolution in 1989. Moreover, she organized exchange programme for students.

Between 1996 to 2010, she was repeatedly elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament where she worked as a Member and Vice-President of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport. During this period, she supported creation and passing of important bills including the Act on Pre-school, Basic, Secondary, Professional, Tertiary and Other Education (the Education Act) and many others. She also contributed to the implementation of Ethical Education as an independent education subject.

Between 2010 and 2014 she followed up on this work at the Czech School Inspectorate (CSI) as director of External Relations Department and at the OECD Centre for Research and Innovation in Education.

Now, as a Member of the European Parliament, she has fully immersed herself into similar topics on a European level. She is the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT), Member of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) and active substitute Member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL).
