Hayato Okamura

MP, Committee on Petitions, Foreign Affairs Committee

Hayato Josef Okamura was born in Prague to a Czech mother and a Japanese father. He spent about eight years of his childhood in Tokyo, Japan, and later graduated from Charles University with degrees in Catholic theology and religious studies. He works as an interpreter for professional delegations, a tour guide, and a Japanese language teacher. He has been a member of the KDU-ČSL since 2015. In his political service to the people, he is inspired by the Christian faith. On his mother’s side, he comes from a Czech-Moravian Catholic family with a tradition of education and resistance against the communist dictatorship. This is also the source of his deep democratic convictions and his efforts to support those unjustly oppressed by current dictatorships, political prisoners, and persecuted Christians. In the 2025 parliamentary elections, he retained his seat in the Chamber of Deputies. In the Chamber of Deputies, he is actively involved in the field of international security for the citizens of our country in today’s complex world. Among other roles, he serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Subcommittee on Democracy and Human Rights, and the Commission for Combating Hybrid Threats.
