Monika Brzesková

Vice Chair of KDU-ČSL, MP, Mayor of Kravaře

Monika Brzesková is the long-time mayor of Kravaře, a mother of two, and the winner of the Miss Czech Republic and Miss Europe pageants. She has been active in local politics for many years; she has led the town of Kravaře since 2014 and has served as a regional representative since 2020. In 2024, she was elected vice president of KDU-ČSL and successfully defended her position as Vice Chair in 2026.

The Hlučín region is her home, and she isn’t afraid of big challenges. She focuses on pro-family policies, education, and regional development. “As a mom and a politician, I know how hard it can sometimes be to find a balance between work and family life. That’s why I’m glad to see concrete changes that can really help families. These include, for example, support for part-time work, job security upon returning to the same position, neighborhood babysitting, or even simpler online applications,” she says. She is convinced that good policy stems from daily work on the ground—where issues facing seniors, families, and the availability of services and social assistance need to be addressed. She views experience at the local level as a solid foundation for any higher public service. In 2025, she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

The issue of women in politics is also important to her. She openly states that women still have to fight for their place, but it is precisely their approach—focused on practical, everyday issues—that brings irreplaceable value to the public sphere. She uses her experience to advocate for greater representation of women not only at the local level, but also at the national level.
