Václav Pláteník currently serves as a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. He serves on the Health Committee and the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee. Previously, he served as a deputy minister at the Ministry of Health, where he oversaw health and social affairs. For example, he helped draft the first law linking health and social services.
In October 2024, he was elected Vice Chair of the KDU-ČSL, and he retained his position at the 2026 KDU-ČSL Congress in Ostrava. Before entering politics, he held management positions at consulting firms, in government, and at a pharmaceutical company. He studied public health at the Faculty of Medicine in Olomouc and health law at Charles University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Olomouc. His priority is ensuring that caregiving families have sufficient support and services when caring for the elderly or sick children. He and his wife live in Valašské Meziříčí with their son Samuel, and in his free time he keeps bees, fishes, and brews beer. He is a member of the Orla and Matice Svatohostýnské organizations.
