She graduated from the Faculty of Science at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Brno, where she later worked as a research assistant in regional geology. She subsequently worked for 11 years at Geotest Brno. Since 2016, she has also served as a representative of the Olomouc Region. She previously served as a senator from 1996 to 2007; in 2007, she was elected Deputy Public Defender of Rights and thus relinquished her senatorial seat. For six years in this role, she defended individuals against improper and unlawful actions by government agencies. She returned to the upper chamber of Parliament following the 2014 elections. She is married and has two children.
